Arts in Education
Providing engaging and educational performing arts experiences for area students has been an integral aspect of the Nazareth College Arts Center School Performance Series for more than 45 years.
In addition to providing fun and rewarding field trips, performances in the series create content-rich experiences to augment classroom learning and satisfy New York State Common Core Learning Standards (C.C.L.S.) for arts (dance, music, theatre), English/language arts, and history/social studies. Through exposure to a range of texts, the Nazareth College Arts Center School Performance Series encourages inquiry, analysis, conceptual understanding, exposure to a variety of cultures and perspectives, and college and career-ready speaking and listening skills.
Our touring productions showcase outstanding professional performers and technicians, while our Department of Theatre Arts productions feature the work of Nazareth College student actors and production crews, under the leadership of professional directors, music directors, choreographers, and technical staff.
Saturday Art Program
Established 20 years ago by Dr. Karen Trickey, Saturday Art for Children and Teens is an enrichment program in the Visual Arts for children in grades Pre-K-9. Students in grades Pre-K through 6 actively create art in a variety of 2D and 3D media. Students in grades 7-9 create digital art in one of the college's state of the art computer labs. Saturday sessions are taught by advanced art education students and are supervised by Nazareth faculty.
