Arts in Education
In 2015, the Nazareth College Arts Center celebrated 48 seasons of providing area students with engaging and educational performing arts experiences through its School Performance Series.
More than fun field trips, Arts Center performances encourage inquiry, expose students to a variety of cultures and perspectives, and help develop college and career-ready speaking and listening skills.
Saturday Art Program
Established 20 years ago by Dr. Karen Trickey, Saturday Art for Children and Teens is an enrichment program in the Visual Arts for children in grades Pre-K-9. Students in grades Pre-K through 6 actively create art in a variety of 2D and 3D media. Students in grades 7-9 create digital art in one of the college's state of the art computer labs. Saturday sessions are taught by advanced art education students and are supervised by Nazareth faculty.
Summer Art Camp
Students age 13-18 with artistic talents and interests in the visual arts can learn from professional artists and build your portfolio! Demonstrate your skills in a final art exhibit.
Mitch Messina will offer opportunities in ceramics and sculpture and Ron Netsky will offer opportunities in drawing and painting. Classes will be held at the Art Center Campus.
Community Music Program
Through its affiliation with Nazareth College's distinguished collegiate music department, the Community Music Program adheres to the highest standards of excellence in musical instruction. We believe deeply in the fundamental value of an arts education. We recognize that the development and active encouragement of one's musical abilities exert a positive influence upon academic performance, self-confidence, a sense of individuality, creativity and discipline.
